Google has a new GIS like mapping tool called Google Maps Engine Lite. It makes it really easy to import data from a fusion table, CSV, TSV, or XLSX files. It is designed similar to ARC Explorer , with less menus and without the lag. Here is an example of a map created with data entered into a fusion table. This is a nice free and easy to use tool for students to quickly create custom map layers, and import data.

Edcanvas is a really cool site. It takes seconds to pull materials together for your students. It took me 3 minutes to throw this lesson on the Universal law of Gravitation together.
It's easy, it's fun, why not use it?
